Make more money by unlocking the true potential of email marketing

Hire the right person and stop trying to figure it out by yourself

Dear Business Owner,

Researching email marketing is painful. You may even find yourself feeling overwhelmed at the moment.

But your suffering has come to an end!

In fact, You have discovered the most information packed web-page on the ENTIRE INTERNET regarding how to hire a professional email marketer.

There are No Opt-ins, No Tricks, No “Special Reports”. Just a page FULL of the information you need to make a good business decision. And as a bonus, I have included a “Special Treat” for you at the end of this article.

My name is Jonathan Adams. I am a professional copywriter who holds a Masters in Business Administration. I work with with businesses just like yours, and I want to provide you with knowledge about email marketing you can’t get anywhere else. And yes, you can hire me. Just click any “Book A Call” button you see on this page.

You are about to discover:

  • The two types of email marketing agencies you should avoid and how to spot them.
  • How to find, interview, and hire an expert email marketer.
  • How much money it will cost you to outsource your email marketing.
  • The amazing benefits you’ll enjoy by having your email marketing done for you!

Let’s look at the facts.

Have you seen the incredible Return On Investment (ROI) email marketing can provide for your advertising dollar?

Just consider the following:

  • 6 out of 10 email subscribers are successfully sold a product or service. 6 OUT OF 10!!!
  • Customers who make purchases through email spend 138% more money than those who don’t receive email offers.
  • For every $1 a company spends on email marketing, they can expect to earn $38 of revenue on average.
  • An impressive 50.7% of email subscribers purchase from marketing emails at least once a month. (23.8% make purchases several times per month via marketing emails.)

Evidence like this is hard to ignore, am I right?

Yet here you are on the sidelines… watching… trying to figure out the correct way to start marketing by email.

How tempting it must be to just “Get Started” and

But we first need to look at the BIG problem you are currently facing: Finding someone trustworthy to help you dive into email marketing.

Let me ask you a question.

Do you ever dread hiring someone to work for you?

Hiring someone to complete a task which you can confidently do yourself is difficult enough.

But hiring someone for a task which you are not sure how to do yourself can feel more nerve wracking than having a heart transplant in some third world country.

And I completely understand! You don’t want to waste money on a poor hiring decision.

You don’t want to be taken advantage of.

That is why it’s essential for you to be warned about the different types of email marketing agencies you will encounter when conducting your research.

The first agency I need to introduce you to is the “Flash & Cash” agency

These are the marketers who are interested in one thing: Money.

They want to make as much as they can while working as little as possible.

The “Flash & Cash” agency will simply use “pre-canned” email templates and send them to your customers. Nothing they do will be original or new.

They operate this way so they can just “press send” a few times a week, then submit their costly invoice to you. (The business owner)

You should be able to spot the “Flash & Cash” agency a mile away. They are loud, often young and arrogant. They will show off their wealth or brag about their business success.

They will even brag about how they use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to perform a majority of their work. (That is an entire snake’s nest which you will learn about later on.)

This “Flash & Cash” group will have an impressive website. They will be extremely polished when pitching to you or showing you a slide deck…but in the end they are “all clouds and no rain”.

Once they have you under contract for a monthly fee, the romance dies

That’s the bad news. The good news is that these agencies are easily spotted. Here’s how:

If you ever suspect you are getting pitched to by one of these “Flash & Cash” types, ask them questions about how they tailor their marketing messages for your clients. They will start grasping for words.

Why? Because they don’t love marketing. They have no passion for it. They only care about getting their hands on your money.

Please, keep in mind, there are good email marketing agencies out there, but they are harder to find than a parking space downtown on Saturday night!

The next rotten apple is called the “Prideful Creator” agency.

These “Prideful Creator” marketing agencies are in every form of advertising you can imagine, including email marketing. They even work for the largest companies in the world.

This type of agency is all about themselves and receiving praise from…well…themselves. They take great pride in their Creativity. Believe it or not, you are already familiar with their work.

Have you ever found yourself watching TV at night, only to be interrupted by a commercial? Well of course you have. But I want to draw your attention to a special type of commercial with my next question.

Have you seen a commercial where you are presented with a comedy skit, or maybe a flash of pictures one after the other? By the time the commercial is finished, you have no idea what the advertisement was for.

You guessed it! That is the work of a “Prideful Creator” agency in all of its glory!

But, they are not evil; just lost.

You see, the “Prideful Creator” agencies always have promising beginnings, but then they get bored. The basics of how to sell becomes bland to them. As a result, they believe they can innovate. They start getting more and more “Creative.” They lose their focus.

Before they know it, they end up worshiping at the altar of “creativity” rather than serving their clients. (Which are business owners like you)

You will be able to recognize them because they will take little interest in You, Your customers, Your business, or Your brand. Instead, they will believe they know best and will attempt to dominate these aspects of your business.

If you’re like me, you may be thinking:

“Well, if all these email marketing agencies are a bunch of crooks, I can do it myself, or I will get one of my employees to do it.”

I understand that impulse. But you should…

Beware of that nasty DIY (Do-It-Yourself) Spirit! Don’t let it take you!

I suspect in your research you may have come across opinions concerning marketing by email which sound similar to this:

“Today, anybody can send marketing emails. It is so easy now with all of the available digital marketing platforms out there.”

And on the surface, that statement makes a great deal of sense.

Because it is almost true.

The email marketing platforms available today have become very user friendly. Well…it appears that way.

It’s true. You could get yourself set up with an account on some marketing technology site. Before you know it, you too could be successfully sending marketing emails to your customer list.

But…would your marketing emails be successful?

Pressing the send button is easy. Making those emails produce money is more difficult.

Just consider these complaints from DIY business owners who wanted to tackle email marketing on their own:

  • “We are losing 200-300 subscribers off of our email list per day.” (OUCH!)
  • “Less customers are opening our emails each day! Why? We haven’t changed anything.”
  • “I just ran a test email to my own Gmail account, and the email ended up in the promotions folder!”
  • “The emails we sent never made it because of a firewall blocking all messages with fancy graphics and too many pictures.”

If those previous outcomes weren’t discouraging enough to the DIY’er out there, consider this:

Do you remember the “Flash & Cash” marketing agency you were warned about earlier?

Well, now that same sleazy bunch of kids in the “Flash & Cash” marketing agency is writing their sales copy with ChatGPT-8.

In fact, you too could use the great and powerful wizard of ChatGPT to write your marketing emails. That would put your marketing messages in the same league as many marketing agencies, right?

Well prepare yourself for this shocker:

First, AI can’t think. It’s just a mixture of software code which operates based on patterns and probability. But don’t take my word for it. A little company called Apple Computer recently published a study titled “The Illusion of Thinking” concerning this very subject. You can access the paper later by using the following URL in your browser https://machinelearning.apple.com/research/illusion-of-thinking

Second, your customers have no interest in reading AI generated garbage. Just look at the results of a recent survey.

In a blind study conducted on consumers, human written content was preferred 5.7 times more than AI generated content. Pair this with the coming AI Model Collapse, and it is clear that AI will not make your messages stand out in your customer’s inbox.

And we haven’t even discussed your competition…

Would you like to know who it is?

It won’t be the punk kids over at the “Flash & Cash” marketing agency. Your competition will be tougher than that…

You will being going head-to-head in your customer’s inbox with copywriters as ruthless as me!

Would you want to go head to head for attention in an email inbox against me?

Because if you try to DIY your own marketing messages, that is exactly what you will be doing.

Think about it…

Every corporation big and small is hip to the power of email marketing. That is why your inbox stays flooded with promotional messages.

Let me explain it this way.

If I were to arrange it where you could be CEO for a day at a large company such as Nike or Ford, would you send in your new rookie copywriters to write the company’s email promotions, or would you send in your very best?

You are in the fight of your life for the attention of your customer

They only have so much attention to give and everyone is after it.

Here is something else for you to think about while you are entertaining the idea of DIY email marketing…

Who do you have on your staff with the ability and time to track all of your results? How will you measure to see which email messages are working and which ones are failing?

The tracking and measuring of your email’s effectiveness can be…and…should be a huge ordeal.

An excellent email marketer needs to be researching…

  • YouTube thumbnail titles (To see which titles are pulling the most views.)
  • Display ads
  • Different subject lines
  • A/B testing sales copy
  • Different appeals
  • Search trends and news

All of this should be evaluated and tracked to maximize your advertising dollar.

Don’t you want to maximize your advertising dollar?

The entire “Just press send, anyone can do it” argument is not all that honest after all.

But here is the Real Villain!

This one could literally bankrupt you…

It is our beloved friend, the U.S. Federal Government.

Well, the Federal Trade Commission to be more precise.

Wait! Did you think something as profitable as email marketing would remain untouched by those Swamp Creatures in Washington? Ha!

Before you send a single marketing email, you should read about the CAN-SPAM Act. A link can be found Here: https://www.ftc.gov/business-guidance/resources/can-spam-act-compliance-guide-business.

(Yes, I too find it funny that an intern in Congress named this law after the potted meat. Get it? Spam comes in a CAN!)

When you start to read up on the law, it becomes clear that the government takes violations seriously.

Here are just a few examples:

  • Not displaying a physical mailing address for your business on each email sent
  • Using “deceptive” subject lines (I wonder who gets to judge what deceptive is?)
  • Not honoring opt-out requests promptly

And guess what friend…Even if you hire someone to do all of your email marketing…YOU still hold ALL of the liability. (Be careful who you trust!)

My favorite part is the possible fine of $53,088.00 per individual email per act of non-compliance!

Can you even imagine being hit by that shocking fine?

So, what are you as a business owner to do?

You could hire an agency to take care of all your email marketing, but you risk coming across bad apples in that pile.

Or, you could try doing it yourself, but you don’t have the time, nor the expertise to maximize your efforts.

Your best bet is to hire a professional copywriter who specializes in sending marketing emails, or specializes in your industry

(A copywriter is a person who writes words in such a way that the reader is encouraged or moved to respond by taking a requested action. It has nothing to do with copy right law.)

Here’s the deal: I would like to tell you that finding such a person is going to be easy. But I won’t. It is going to take considerable work. However, it is well worth the effort!!!

I can already hear the gears turning in your head. Your first inclination may be to look for a copywriter on Upwork (a platform where you can hire freelancers) or another similar website.

Don’t!

Let me ask you a question. Would you let your son or daughter find their spouse on Tinder?

Of course not! A site devoted to the lowest bidders often has disadvantages.

I am sure there are fine people on these freelance platforms. However, those who can really write money-making sales copy are rare. Copywriting is a skill, and you get what you pay for…

So, where would you even find quality copywriters?

Not many business owners know about the following resource, but they should. And now you do!

It is called the American Writers & Artist Institute. (AWAI)

The AWAI may be a good place to find a professional copywriter because they offer training specifically for copywriters.

Another helpful trick I would offer you is this:

You can use Google or another search engine to search for the term “email copywriter AWAI”. Once you dig through the first page of results, you will start to see personal websites of people who are associated with the AWAI and who also specialize in email marketing.

Here is another helpful tip for you.

Since it is just us business folks here, perhaps you have heard of LinkedIn?

You may have an account already.

You can do a search on LinkedIn for a copywriter and come up with a whole host of prospects.

Now, a word of caution when hiring a good copywriter. There are certain “signs” you want to see when you are researching or speaking to one.

  • You will want to know how busy their schedule is. Is it wide open? (As in no one wants to hire them.)
  • You will want to know how familiar they are with your industry
  • You will want to know the number of clients they are willing to handle at one time (If they overload themselves, they will not be able to provide you with the attention you require!)

At this point you may be wondering…

“Wow, this is helpful information. But… you are talking about professionals with limited availability…Folks who only work with a limited number of clients. Won’t that be expensive?”

Great question!

The answer is no, it is not expensive…but the way I look at the entire cost of such services may be different from how you view it.

First, allow me to provide you with a pricing guide. The AWAI publishes a pricing guide each year. These prices represent averages for each type of project typically performed by a copywriter. The link is here in case you are interested. Link: https://www.awai.com/copywriter-rates/

But I will show you the price right now. Most professional copywriters will charge between $500 to $1000 to write a marketing email. Amazing copywriters will charge even more!

I know you may be thinking: “I send out emails everyday. That price is ridiculous!” I understand why you may feel this way. At one time, I did too!

Then I realized something which changed my mind about the cost forever, and I want to share what I discovered with you!

Imagine this scenario: You hired a professional copywriter to write and send out an email to your email list.

  • The cost for you to have this expertly crafted message created is $1300. (The amount you paid your copywriter)
  • From this email campaign, you receive 800 orders.
  • Each order brings $12 profit into your business.

You would receive a total net profit of $8,300.

Would the expense be justified in this case? Obviously, Yes!

Think of marketing as a three legged stool. Each leg represents a necessary piece. The three legs would be these:

  • Market (Your customers)
  • Media (How you deliver your message to your market)
  • Message (The words and other means you use to convey an idea)

If the cost of these copywriters seems expensive to you, it is most likely because…

You are confusing the “Media” with the “Message”

Because you use email everyday, you feel as though you have a good command over the “Media.” And you are probably right…But when you hire a copywriter, it is the “Message” your are paying for.

Imagine for a moment I placed a link here which would take you to a pre-populated shopping cart on Amazon. In that shopping cart you would find a large 48″ by 36″ stretched canvas, knife, brushes, oil paints; all the items you would need to paint a beautiful masterpiece.

You would purchase everything in the shopping cart and try your hand at painting a wonderful landscape.

Depending upon your skill level, you may do okay. However, in the hands of the right artist, that canvas would end up becoming a piece of art which would fetch a considerable price at auction.

So, what is the difference between you and the well-known and well-trained artist? The EXACT same equipment and supplies were made available to both of you. In other words, you both had access to the same “media.”

The reason the artist’s painting would fetch a higher price at auction than your painting is because the market at the auction house was paying for the result (the Message)…not the equipment or supplies (the Media).

It is easy to confuse the Media (which in your case would be emails) with the Message.

Many people feel their marketing messages should be “free” because emails are “free” to send.

A great number of business owners make this mistake…

Just look at your own email inbox to see example after example of “free” messaging

Have you seen this “free” messaging cluttering up your inbox?

  • Random discount sales with fancy pictures and no descriptions
  • Emails that promote no featured product or service
  • Email that are almost entirely pictures and fancy graphics
  • Emails where it takes you longer than 5 seconds to figure out who it is from or why they sent it

But great marketing…great messaging…is rarely “free.” It comes at a premium because of what it takes to create and because of the results it can deliver.

You see, you are never paying for the emails. You are paying for the marketing message which is crafted inside the emails. You are paying for the skill required to boost your sales by another 14.6 % next month, etc.

Why? Because words matter!

Gary Halbert (arguably one of the best copywriters ever) used the following illustration at his seminars.

He would begin his presentation by having his assistants pass out two sheets of paper, two envelopes, and two stamps to each of the attendees.

Mr. Halbert then did the following:

  • First, he would read them a letter (Letter #1) and have each person write down word for word what he was reading to them.
  • Second, he would repeat that same exercise with a second letter (Letter #2).

Both letters were addressed to the same person. Can you guess who it was?

Each seminar attendee ended up writing two separate letters to their own mother. One was a letter which praised and thanked her for all of her sacrifice. The other letter was filled with the most hateful, vile words a person could put on paper.

The moral of the story was this: The letters were identical in every way. The stamp was the same, the paper was the same, even the envelope was the same.

The only difference was the WORDS!

With something as simple as words, each seminar attendee held in their hand the power to permanently change the relationship they had with their own mother.

So, if something as simple as words are powerful enough to forever alter an unshakable bond like that…they must be very important.

The words you send to your customers matter!

Now listen: You would think the importance of words is common sense, but few business owners fully recognize how critical words are when communicating with their customers.

If they did, then their attitude towards advertising and marketing would be completely different.

And the best way to get the right words delivered to your customers is to have a professional copywriter compose and send your marketing emails for you.

So, if you decide to hire a professional copywriter (such as myself), what can you expect?

Here are a few of the Spectacular benefits you can experience:

  • A professional copywriter will know the major psychological drivers for every purchasing decision.
  • They understand the proper ways to incorporate personalization into your emails to garner high response rates to your offers.
  • A professional copywriter will be obsessed with tracking results. They will want to learn how future messaging can be improved with your customers.
  • They will know how to categorize your email list by hobbies, demographics, etc. and then send specific messages to those groups…bringing you more sales.
  • They will know how to take your common product or service and make it unique. You will no longer be competing solely based on price.
  • They will be able to increase open rates due to their mastery of headlines and subject lines.

And most important of all, they will be able to increase the total amount of money a customer brings into your business.

Customers who stay with your business longer purchase more products.

This little known metric is defined as “Lifetime Customer Value”.

There is an old saying in advertising: “He who can spend the most to acquire a customer wins!”

If you can increase your Lifetime Customer Value, then your business will be able to increase the amount of money it spends to gain a new customer. This is because each customer will be worth more to your business.

When you hire a professional copywriter (someone who sincerely loves their craft) you are going to find the relationship to be more than just transactional.

They can help shore up weak areas in your marketing and branding you never noticed before

A professional copywriter will be able to share with you marketing ideas and expertise they discovered while working in other industries.

For example: Perhaps your copywriter worked on a real estate campaign and discovered a creative idea which would work perfectly in your business. One piece of advice such as this could set your entire business on a new trajectory!

Also, consider what hiring a copywriter will mean for yourself:

  • You will get your time back, allowing you to focus on other tasks in your business.
  • You will finally experience those massive revenue gains which can only be achieved by using a pro copywriter (just like the big companies do.)
  • You will enjoy more time with your family and friends…the entire reason you got into running a business in the first place.
  • You may even end up with a trusted business advisor…someone you can bounce ideas off of.

Imagine not carrying the entire burden of your business alone!

Now with all of these obvious benefits, you would think every business owner would rush out and hire a professional copywriter today.

But they don’t. Do you know why?

Here is the cold hard truth…

Most business owners simply just want to “get by” while hiding in their little turtle shell!

They are not interested in growing their business.

Others are merely unaware these copywriters exist, or that hiring them is an option.

But would you like to know the biggest reason business owners (just like yourself) don’t hire professional copywriters to handle their email marketing?

It is because they don’t understand the power their marketing messages can have on their lives and on their business.

They think that advertising is…well…advertising and that it’s all equal. But, now you know this isn’t true!
